7. Quick Review
I. Story
The story of The Irregular At Magic High School is really unique.
It mixes technology and magic together in a way that we get various explanations guiding us through the working of magic.
There are also rules set in this world that really give the anime a realistic structure and a very cool concept.
II. Characters
Unfortunately, The Irregular At Magic High School fails at character development.
Their designs are beautiful, and they have diverse personalities, but they just don’t grow as people throughout the show.
The main character is overpowered and wins every single battle instantly, making the show’s engagement very low.

The animation is done brilliantly by Studio Madhouse and makes each scene a pleasure to witness.
The action is fast-paced and demonstrates unique magical powers that each character possesses.
IV. Sound
The soundtrack, especially the opening theme, is incredibly catchy and will make you want to not skip the opening. The special effect sounds provide depth to the action and are overall a great addition to the anime.
8. About The Irregular at Magic High School
The Irregular at Magic High School is based on a web novel series by Tsutomu Sato, published on an internet web novel website between 2008 and 2011.
The series is set in a world with an alternate history, where magic exists and has been polished through modern technology. However, the ability to use magic is determined by genetics, limiting the number of magicians in existence.
The story follows Tatsuya Shiba, a bodyguard to his sister Miyuki Shiba who is also a candidate to succeed in the leadership of the Yotsuba clan, one of the Ten Master Clans that govern Japan’s magicians.
They enroll into First High School which segregates its students based on their magical abilities. Miyuki is enrolled as a first course student and is viewed as one of the best students, while Tatsuya is in the second course and considered to be magically inept.
