Adjunct – Guest Stage Director

Seton Hill University Department of Theatre and Dance is hiring guest stage directors for their 2023-2024 production season. The Department stages one musical and two plays each academic year. The Department employs resident full time faculty in all design areas, augmented by guest artists each year, as well as a full time Technical Director/Production Manager. Guest director positions are offered as part-time university adjunct faculty. Assistant Professor, Exercise Science

The School of Natural and Health Sciences at Seton Hill University currently invites applications for an assistant professor of exercise science. This position is a full-time, 10-month faculty appointment that will begin in August 2023. The Department of Exercise Science is seeking a collegial individual to contribute to teaching, service, and scholarly activities in accordance with the University and Department policies and procedures, and CoAES standards. The undergraduate exercise science program leads to entry level careers in exercise and sport science, as well as supports entry into various graduate programs following graduation. The program prioritizes experiential learning through active learning inside and outside of the classroom.
Qualified candidates must be able to teach a variety of exercise science courses, including upper-level courses such as Clinical Exercise Physiology, Evidence Based Practice, and Aerobic Leadership. Candidates should hold a PhD in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology or a closely related field (ABD in the final stages of doctorate will also be considered). ACSM and/or NSCA certifications preferred. The ability to engage in interdisciplinary research with students and faculty from various other disciplines is also highly valued. Additional qualifications include a substantive commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and to implementing the mission and values of a Catholic university.

Assistant Professor, Political Science

Seton Hill University invites applications for a full-time, tenure track position in Political Science, housed in the School of Humanities and linked to programs in Political Science, Global Studies, and Pre-Law/Legal Studies. Appointment is to begin in August 2023.
The faculty member will teach a range of courses in Political Science, particularly focused on American Government, Political Theory, and Legal Studies. Seton Hill’s Political Science program offers majors in Political Science, Political Science-Pre-law, and Global Studies. All SHU students are also required to take course work in the Social Sciences as part of the Liberal Arts curriculum, and the desired candidate will teach across the Liberal Arts.
Requirements for the position include:
- Ph.D. in Political Science, Politics, Government, or Pre-Law/Legal Studies at time of appointment
- Ability to teach a range of courses in the discipline, including Introduction to Political Science, Political Theory, American National Government, and Topics in American Politics.
- Evidence of effective teaching and commitment to continued professional development
- Ability to work collegially with other faculty members and staff in the School of Humanities and across the University
- Willingness and ability to recruit and advise undergraduate majors in Political Science, Global Studies, and Political Science Pre-Law

Qualifications:
Requirements include an earned doctorate in special education, three years K-12 special education teaching experience, and a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Use of technology to enhance teaching is required. The ideal candidate has expertise in special education instructional methodologies, including universal design for learning approaches for individuals with mild to moderate and/or moderate to severe/profound disabilities and writing an IEP. Expertise in instructional methodology, knowledge of or experience in working with English-language learners, knowledge of or experience with Middle States or similar accreditation, ability to do graduate program coordination and experience with quality online delivery systems is preferred.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include teaching in undergraduate and graduate level programs in special education on campus and online, advising, conducting research, participating in university/community service activities, and initiating partnerships with community agencies and schools for our School of Education students.
