Financial Aid
Higher education is an investment for your future. There are many ways for you to be awarded financial help to pay for your education. Federal grants and loans are available to almost anyone. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid is easy to fill out, and nearly every financial aid institution and scholarship award committee use this application for selection and funding. Also, if you served in the military, you are eligible for the GI Bill and funds are available for your spouse.
New York has some of their own unique programs, such as Tuition Assistance Program (TAP), which is coordinated by the Higher Education Services Corporation. It is income-based assistance that does not need to be repaid, and students are eligible as long as they maintain a full time course load.
For part time students, there is another state funded program called Aid for Part Time Study (APTS). It is based on NYS net taxable income, academic performance, availability of funds, and number of credits. The maximum award is $1,000 and students must be enrolled for at least 3 but less than 12 credits per term.

Career Services
The Career Services department will assist you in preparing to enter the workforce. Students can sharpen their interview skills and resume writing, as well as perform job searches and begin building a job network. The Dean of Alumni and Career Services will also take you through each step in the licensure process, and maintains a strong alumni network to provide graduates with referrals, job listings, and office rental information. The Institute provides continuing education course to help maintain your professional standing after graduation, meeting state requirements as well as helping you advance your career.
Programs and Courses All the courses and programs educate students to promote wellness practices and a healthy lifestyle for clients and engage in effective self-care to promote health and career longevity. Regardless if you are looking to earn a certificate in a short time, or a two year degree, the rigorous curriculum will ready you to enter the work force in your field of interest immediately upon graduation.
Advanced Personal Trainer Degree
Graduates of this program will have an Associate in Occupational Studies, allowing them to confidently enter their field working in fitness centers, health facilities like hospitals, and many continue on to open their own practice. The program is an intense study in anatomy, physiology, pathology, kinesiology and the biomechanics of exercise. Students learn to asses clients physical capabilities and design a health program including exercise regimens and nutrition. Students practice in the Institute’s functional training facility as well as a variety of internship opportunities. The Advanced Personal Training program coursework meets the standards for the knowledge, skills, and abilities set forth for certification by professional organizations such as the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), and the National College of Sports and Fitness (NCSF).
Clinical and Administrative Medical Assistant
This program focuses on the skills required to assist physicians and nurses in any health care setting. Students will be studying a wide variety of clinical skills such as patient vital signs, phlebotomy, lab procedures, 12-lead electrocardiography, as well as ethics of patient care. Administrative skills are also honed in documentation, reception, medical billing and coding, and insurance procedures. Graduates are awarded the Associate in Occupational Studies upon completion.
The Clinical and Administrative Medical Assistant program has been chosen to be a part of the American Medical Technologists’ School Recognition Program. Graduates are eligible to sit for the Medical Assistant Certification examination (RMA).
Clinical Medical Assistant
This is a certificate program, easily completed with 62 credits with an intense focus on patient vital signs, standard examinations, phlebotomy/hematology techniques, laboratory procedures, 12-lead electrocardiography (ECG), basic pharmacology and the ethics of patient care. Also, administrative skills are taught in conjunction with the clinical, such as reception, patient scheduling, filing, recording keeping and customer service.
Massage Therapy Training Program
The premier program that started the Institute has grown into a highly respected degree, with graduates receiving an Associate in Occupational Studies. The program prepares students to take the New York State licensure exam, pass and enter the profession. Students will learn how to promote relaxation, reduce pain, and treat a wide variety of illnesses with a goal of wellness and healing.
The program is very extensive, encompassing both Western and Eastern theory and techniques. Some of the unique courses students will take are classical Swedish massage while involving the Five Element Shiatsu. They will learn advanced Western techniques such as sports massage, trigger point therapy, and myofascial release. They will be introduced to Thai massage, Tuina and reflexology as well. Anatomy and physiology, neurology and kinesiology give the students a solid foundation for client assessment and treatment, all with ethics, safety and patient care at the forefront of every course.
Externship opportunities are available to students in the community as well as extensive practice in the college’s clinics. Students will be prepared to take on careers in spas, fitness centers, hospitals, corporate fitness centers, physical therapy clinics, and chiropractic offices.
Medical Billing and Coding
This program provides students with the necessary skills to gain an entry level position in medical billing and coding positions. Course material covered ranges from insurance, coding, and processing to medical administrative procedures and regulatory processes.
Nursing Program
Become a registered nurse at the culmination of this program, receiving your Associate in Applied Science Degree. The program combines curriculum including but not limited to written and oral communication, mathematics, behavioral and biological sciences that give students a well rounded knowledge to successfully take the NCLEX-RN license exam. Once a student completes the program and passes the exam, they are prepared to begin a career as a Registered Nurse. The program is certified by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing.
Personal Training Certificate
Students who complete this program are eligible to enroll in the Advanced Personal Training program, as they will have acquired skills set forth by the American Council on Exercise. Students who graduate this program are certified to work in gyms, fitness centers, hospitals or open a private practice.
Surgical Technologist
This program teaches students to be a valued member of a surgical team with the capability to work in a variety of perioperative environments. Some of the skills honed in this degree program are basic anatomy and physiology, aseptic techniques and infection control, and general and specialized surgical procedures. Students gain experience in surgical settings through the laboratory work, and clinical expertise in hospitals and clinics through externships.
The Surgical Technologist program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs upon the recommendation of the Accreditation Review Council on Education in Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (ARC/STSA).
